Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. EPA Honors Former DEEP Air Bureau Chief

At a ceremony in Boston today, recently retired Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Chief of the Bureau of Air Management, Anne Gobin, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
“During the course of her 32 years at the agency, Anne worked tirelessly to protect the air all of us in Connecticut breathe,” said DEEP Commissioner Rob Klee. “Her dedication and passion for the important work we do each day is legendary throughout the agency. I congratulate Anne on this achievement, and wish her continued years of happiness in retirement.”
Also honored at the ceremony was Norwalk based Diageo North America for the efforts to reduce the company’s environmental impact.
