DEEP Says Updated Energy Strategy will Continue Moving CT Toward Cheaper, Cleaner, More Reliable Energy
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today released a draft of an updated energy strategy for Connecticut which focuses on building a 21st energy system that lowers costs for homeowners and businesses and reduces carbon emissions to help achieve the state’s climate change goals.

Connecticut Water Planning Council Seeks Public Comment on Draft of State Water Plan
The members of the Connecticut Water Planning Council (WPC) today announced that they have published a draft version of the State Water Plan that they have been developing onto the council’s website (www.ct.gov/water) and have opened a public review period to give Connecticut residents, businesses, and other stakeholders an opportunity to provide feedback before it is finalized early next year.

Governor Malloy Proclaims July 15-16 as the Second Annual Connecticut Clean, Drain, Dry Weekend
Connecticut will mark its second Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Weekend on July 15-16 – as part of an effort to encourage boaters and others to take all steps necessary to prevent the spread of invasive plants and animals. Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is partnering with the Candlewood Lake Authority, and the Connecticut Federation of Lakes to promote this weekend.

DEEP Closes Swim Area at Rocky Neck State Park
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has closed the swim area at Rocky Neck State Park, Niantic, because the weekly water quality test conducted there showed a level of bacteria in the water above the standard set to protect the health of swimmers.

Sandy Hook Man Pronounced Dead After Boating Collision on Lake Zoar Tuesday Night
A 52-year old Sandy Hook man was pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital Tuesday night after the vessel he was operating on Lake Zoar was struck by another vessel, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police.

Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police Join Operation Dry Water to Raise Awareness About Dangers of Boating Under the Influence
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police participate in Operation Dry Water as part of a nationally coordinated effort to increase knowledge about the dangers of Boating Under the Influence (BUI).
