Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Mad Hatter’s Tea Children’s Crafting Workshop

Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) invites families to “Go ‘Mad’ for Tea” at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Crafting Workshop at the Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. 
This tea workshop will teach children the history of tea and tea etiquette.  Kids and the young at heart will also make handcrafted herbal tea blends, tea hats, and tea accessories.
 
The program is free and appropriate for ages 8 and up. Refreshments will be provided.

The Kellogg Environmental Center, is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue in Derby, off of Rte. 34.
