Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at an 'extreme' level. More information about the current fire danger, burn ban and recommended safety measures can be found here

The Land and Water Conservation Fund: Outdoor Recreation and Legacy Partnership Program

The ORLP Program offers a unique opportunity for large-scale acquisition or development of recreational facilities to service distressed communities.  Interested parties are encouraged to read the full Request For Proposals (RFP) as well as the Notice Of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) linked here.  DEEP is committed to helping applicants produce complete and high-quality applications for submission to NPS. Applicants are encouraged to reach out at their earliest opportunity to DEEP to inform them of their intent to apply, as well as with any questions that may arise during the application process.

  • As applications are submitted to NPS by the State.  The State’s deadline is earlier than the Federal ORLP submission deadline.
  • RFP Official Announcement: December 01, 2023
  • Projects must be submitted to CT DEEP no later than: 11:59PM March 01, 2024
  • DEEP Final Selection of Projects to be Submitted to NPS: By or Before March 15, 2024
  • DEEP Final Submission Deadline to NPS: 11:59 PM Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
