Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. DEEP's CERCLA 128(a) Grant Program

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is pleased to announce the availability of funding under DEEP’s CERCLA 128(a) Grant Program and is inviting applicants that are municipalities or non-profit entities to apply.  The total funding pool available for this program is $750,000 with grants of up to $250,000 for assessment and $250,000 for cleanup.  DEEP encourages applicants whose projects will enable the creation, preservation, or addition of park space, greenways or other recreational space, or other property used for nonprofit purposes, to apply for this pool of funding.
