Gov. Malloy Unveils Legislation to Strengthen Advanced Manufacturing in Connecticut and Create Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, state officials and legislators, and local business leaders, today announced that he will introduce legislation during the upcoming regular session of the General Assembly to establish a new Advanced Manufacturing Fund to assist Connecticut manufacturers meet growing demand and create jobs.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Awarded Federal Planning Grant to Study How to Strengthen State’s Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Workforce
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), which have partnered on a Regional Aerospace and Defense Exchange (RADE) initiative to study the impact of defense contract reductions to Connecticut and New England, will receive a $1.25 million U.S. Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment (DoD OEA) grant for the joint effort.

Gov. Malloy: Investment Will Create Jobs for Connecticut Residents
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) will provide a loan to Oxford Performance Materials (OPM) Inc. for an expansion project at the company’s South Windsor facility. The funding will create or retain 65 jobs for Connecticut residents over the next two years.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) will provide Total Mortgage Services, LLC with a $3.5 million loan to help the company establish its national headquarters with a new facility in Milford.

Gov. Malloy: Investment in the Iconic Thompson Speedway Will Create Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide Thompson International Speedway, LLC with an $800,000 loan to upgrade its existing facility in Thompson. Founded in 1940, the company has 48 employees and plans to hire at least 23 more employees over the next two years.

Gov. Malloy: Economic, Scientific Collaboration With Israel Will Strengthen Conneticut's Global Competitiveness
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today at the MetroHartford Alliance's "Rising Star Breakfast" that the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Israel Tech Transfer Organization (ITTN) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the first step in laying the foundation for better and more productive economic and research collaborations between Connecticut and Israeli businesses, research institutions and universities.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today toured the Hartford headquarters of ThinkitDrinkit, a recipient of state assistance through the Small Business Express Program (EXP) and the Subsidized Training and Employment Program (STEP UP) which have helped the startup company grow steadily over the last year and hire more than 20 new employees.

Gov. Malloy: CareCentrix Growing Presence in Connecticut With New Stamford Office
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that CareCentrix is expanding its Connecticut operations with a new office in Stamford after finalizing a lease agreement on Wednesday. In June 2012, CareCentrix became the fifth company to participate in Governor Malloy’s “First Five” program, a job creation initiative administered by the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).
