Operating Stationary Engineer
Application Information:
- What license type do I need? To review the scope of work for available license types click on OE-2 Operating Stationary Engineer (covered under Heating, Cooling and Sheet Metal Work, Hearth Product Work, Fuel Gas Work) or Operating Stationary Engineer Licenses and Scope of Work to determine what best covers the services you intend to provide.
- Every individual applicant must take an exam(s) – Please note: Separate fees will be due to the exam vendor at time of exam registration.
- Connecticut does not have reciprocal agreements with any other jurisdiction.
- Only individuals can apply, company applications are not accepted.
- The Department does not pre-approve or review applications before submission.
- Application fee for journeyperson is $90.00 (Non-Refundable).
- To apply online you must have a User ID and password.

Renewal:
All heating, cooling and sheet metal work licenses expire on annually on August 31st. Renewal fee: Journeyperson: $120.00.
Reinstatement:
A trade license may be reinstated, provided a completed reinstatement form and all applicable fees are submitted not later than three (3) years after the date of expiration of the license.
Please note, if your trade license has expired for more than three (3) years you must reapply and retest.
To complete the reinstatement online:
- If you have your User ID and Password, please go to www.elicense.ct.gov to access your account.
- You may request your User ID and Password by emailing the following information to dcp.online@ct.gov:
