Do I need to pass any tests to become a foster parent?
Here are the “tests” that are part of becoming a foster parent in Connecticut:
- We’ll need a physical exam report from your healthcare provider for everyone in your home. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be in perfect health.
- You’ll need to pass federal, state, and local criminal history and DMV background checks.
- All prospective parents attend a course on foster parenting, including parenting a child with special needs. The classes can be taken virtually, in person, or hybrid. It includes home study. We’ll help you enroll when it’s time.
