1. Notice of Scoping for Connecticut Water Company Green Springs System Consolidation

Address of possible location: The intersection of Ridge Road and Green Hill Road to the intersection of Durham Road (Route 79) and Green Springs Drive in Madison, CT.

Project Description: This project proposes to connect and consolidate the Connecticut Water Company’s (CTWC) Green Springs public water system (Green Springs) with the CTWC Shoreline Region Guilford public water system by constructing a 6,500 linear foot water main between the two systems.  This project is intended to mitigate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) contamination present in the Green Springs well(s). A booster station, not proposed to be funded as part of this project, may be required to address elevation differences.

Any person may ask the sponsoring agency to hold a public scoping meeting by sending such a request to the address below. If a public scoping meeting is requested by 25 or more individuals, or by an association that represents 25 or more members, the sponsoring agency shall schedule a public scoping meeting. Such requests must be made by: August 30, 2024

What Happens Next: The sponsoring agency will make a determination whether to proceed with preparation of an Environmental Impact Evaluation (EIE) or that the project does not require the preparation of an EIE under the Connecticut Environmental Policy Act (CEPA). A Post-Scoping Notice of its decision will appear in a future edition of the Environmental Monitor.
