What is required on a THC-infused beverage label?

Beginning October 1, 2024, each THC-infused beverage container sold or offered for sale in Connecticut must prominently display the following symbol that is at least 0.5 inches tall and 0.5 inches wide indicating that the beverage is not legal nor safe for individuals who are under 21 years of age:

In addition, no THC-infused beverage offered or sold in this state may contain synthetic cannabinoids or be packaged, labeled or advertised in a way that:

  • Resembles cannabis offered for sale in this state; 
  • Mimics or resembles a commercially available food or beverage item that does not normally contain cannabis or THC; 
  • Implies that the product is cannabis; or,
  • Appeals to individuals under 21 years of age.

Infused beverages must meet the packaging and labeling requirements in section 22-61m(x) of the general statutes, as amended by Public Act 24-76, including but not limited to:

  • A scannable barcode, Internet web site address or quick response (QR) code that is linked to the laboratory’s certificate of analysis for the product; 
  • Expiration date;
  • The following health and safety statements:
    • Children, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should avoid using such product prior to consulting with a health care professional concerning such product's safety;
    • Products containing cannabinoids should be kept out of reach of children; and,
    • The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not evaluated this product for safety or efficacy.

For products intended to be inhaled, a warning statement disclosing that smoking or vaporizing is hazardous to human health.
