Attorney General Tong Announces Significant Updates in Multistate Litigation Against Generic Drug Manufacturers Over Conspiracies to Inflate Prices and Limit Competition
Attorney General William Tong today led a coalition of 50 states and territories announcing two significant cooperation agreements and settlements with Heritage Pharmaceuticals and Apotex totaling $49.1 million to resolve allegations that both companies engaged in widespread, long-running conspiracies to artificially inflate and manipulate prices, reduce competition, and unreasonably restrain trade with regard to numerous generic prescription drugs.

Attorney General Tong to Argue for Maximum Term and for Conditions of Accelerated Rehabilitation to Prevent Animal Abuser from Owning Animals Again After Only 30 Days
At 2 p.m. on Monday, October 28 at Danbury Superior Court, Attorney General William Tong will argue for maximum conditions associated with proposed accelerated rehabilitation in the criminal case against Nancy Burton, who was arrested on cruelty to animals charges in 2021 for the severe neglect of more than 65 live goats and over 40 dead goats at her Redding home.

Attorney General William Tong today announced a Hartford Superior Court judge has found Florida-based pharmacy, Assured Rx, LLC liable for $39 million in treble damages and civil penalties under the Connecticut False Claims Act (CFCA) in a kickback scheme involving illegal payments to retired state employees for costly compound drug prescriptions.

Attorney General Tong Announces $500,000 Settlement with Guardian Analytics Following Data Breach
Attorney General William Tong today announced a settlement with Guardian Analytics, Inc. (“Guardian”) and its successor Actimize, Inc. (“Actimize”), resolving an investigation into a data breach that impacted the personal information of 157,629 Connecticut residents who were customers of Webster Bank, N.A. Under the settlement, Guardian and Actimize, as its successor, have agreed to strengthen their data security practices and pay $500,000.
