STATE ANNOUNCES JOINT FEDERAL-STATE FALSE CLAIMS ACT SETTLEMENT WITH WATERBURY SOCIAL WORKER
(Hartford, CT) –Connecticut Attorney General William Tong and state Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby today announced a joint federal-state settlement with a school social worker who will pay $145,855 and will be suspended from participating in Connecticut's Medicaid program for three years to settle allegations that she submitted false claims for payment for psychotherapy services for children who were Medicaid recipients.

AG TONG, 21 STATES OPPOSE DEVOS ATTEMPT TO UNDERMINE INVESTIGATIONS INTO STUDENT LOAN INDUSTRY
Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 21 state attorneys general led by Washington, New Jersey, and Colorado in a letter to Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to renew their request that the Department reverse limitations placed on the routine disclosure of student loan information to state law enforcement agencies.

Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 20 attorneys general today in filing an amicus brief asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to affirm a lower court's finding that a Kentucky law that severely restricts access to abortion services is unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong today announced a $252,913 settlement with New Haven dentist Robert Sorrentino to resolve allegations that he violated the False Claims Act by submitting false claims for oral surgery and maxillofacial services to the Medicaid program.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG, DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS WARN AGAINST FEE FOR BENEFITS SCHEME
After becoming aware that Connecticut veterans have been charged potentially illegal fees for preparation of veterans' benefit applications, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong and Connecticut Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Thomas Saadi urged veterans and their families to immediately report such schemes and reminded the public that it is illegal to charge for preparation or presentation of veterans' benefit applications in most circumstances.
