The IWG's 12 members are comprised of:

  • 1 representative of each agency represented on the WPC
  • 2 in-stream (IS) advocates
  • 2 out-of-stream (OS) advocates
  • 2 Water Planning Council Advisory Group (WPCAG) members, appointed by the co-chairs and representing in-stream and out-of-stream interests
  • 2 subject matter experts

The IWG establishes topical subgroups to research topics as directed by the WPC. Participation in the topical subgroups is open to all interested parties. Individuals may participate in one or more of these whether or not they are members of the IWG or the WPCAG. Each topical subgroup is chaired by a member of the IWG.

The IWG enables more people to be involved in implementing the SWP.  It includes State Agency representatives and allows the WPCAG to maintain its role as a source of wider stakeholder feedback. The WPCAG is an advisor to the IWG, essentially being the reality check asking questions like, “will this work” and “does this make sense.” Throughout the SWP development process, the WPC sought participation from a wide range of stakeholders and will continue to do so during implementation.
