At a time when the number of affordable housing units in the state has grown larger during the past several years than it has over the last several decades, state laws should be encouraging this continued growth, not moving in the opposite direction, he explained.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner Jim Redeker today announced that as a result of innovative construction techniques, CTDOT has been able to shave off three months from the construction schedule for the new, replacement bridge that is being built over the West River along I-95 northbound and southbound, which connects New Haven and West Haven. The bridge carries about 135,000 vehicles per day.

Governor Nancy Wyman are applauding the final legislative approval today of an agreement with the state employee unions on contract concessions that will save the state’s taxpayers approximately $24 billion over the next twenty years. With today’s vote by the State Senate to approve the agreement, which was ratified in the House of Representatives last week, the concession package can now begin to take effect and start producing savings, including $1.57 billion in the current biennium.

Malloy today announced that a joint venture of TransitAmerica Services and Alternate Concepts has been selected as the service provider that will operate and manage service on the CTrail Hartford Line – the passenger rail service currently under construction that will provide more frequent train service between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. The rail line is anticipated to launch in May 2018.
