Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Rocky Neck State Park is also closed until further notice due to a brush fire. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level. More information about the current fire danger, burn ban and recommended safety measures can be found here

Stakeholder Engagement

Public participation throughout the planning and implementation processes is critical to ensure that broadband infrastructure is deployed in a way that is responsive to the needs and priorities of communities struggling with affordability and reliable access. By setting clear goals, this effort will allow stakeholders from all communities to provide feedback, understand the benefits and opportunities of broadband, and work collaboratively towards shared goals.

DEEP is working to ensure:

  • Full geographic coverage of broadband service in Connecticut, including Tribal, rural, suburban, and urban areas.
  • Meaningful engagement and outreach to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Utilization of multiple awareness and participation tactics and different methods to convey information and conduct outreach.
  • Establishment, documentation, and adherence to clear procedures to ensure transparency.
  • Outreach to and engagement of unserved and underserved communities, including those that have been historically underrepresented.

Please check back regularly for new dates and times of events and other feedback opportunities.
