DEEP Headquarters Has Partially Re-Opened to Staff and Members of the Public
February 2nd, 2026 Update
DEEP headquarters at 79 Elm Street in Hartford has partially re-opened to staff and members of the public as of Tuesday, February 3. The DEEP records room has re-opened. The DEEP Central Permit Processing Unit (CPPU) will be open to the public starting on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
January 30th, 2026 Notice
DEEP headquarters at 79 Elm Street in Hartford is currently closed due to recent water damage caused by two separate pipes that burst in the building on Monday, January 26, which are impacting multiple areas of the building. While the building is closed, staff continue to work either remotely or in alternate locations.
Due to the ongoing remediation work, the building will be closed to the public Monday, February 2, 2026. We will post updates on this page to indicate how the remediation is progressing and when the building will be able to re-open. The State Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is currently assessing the building with its contractors and will make determinations regarding building safety and timelines for reoccupancy. In-person file reviews at the DEEP Records Center will not be available at this time. We continue to be able to receive documents via U.S. Mail or courier service, though staff may have delayed access to incoming mail, including hard-copy applications submitted to the Central Permit Processing Unit (CPPU), so our response time may be slightly delayed over the next few weeks. Our electronic file submittal protocols remain unchanged. If you have a document that is time-sensitive or requires a wet signature, please reach out to the project manager, permit engineer or district supervisor for your site or project.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
