Overview
The Judicial Branch’s Protection Order Registry (POR) is an integrated database and notification system for protection orders issued or registered in Connecticut.
The system is maintained by the Judicial Branch’s Office of the Chief Court Administrator in accordance with state law.
Access and Use
Direct access to POR is available through a secure intranet application for authorized criminal justice agencies.
Most law enforcement agencies access POR information through the Connecticut On-Line Law Enforcement Communications Teleprocessing System (COLLECT), along with direct notifications sent to agencies when applicable.
System Integration
POR automatically enters protection order records into COLLECT’s Protection Order File (File 20).
These records are available at all times for enforcement through standard person (FLQW) and motor vehicle (FL02) inquiries.
Notifications
POR sends notifications to law enforcement agencies based on address information for the parties involved in a protection order.
Notifications are sent in two ways:
- Through COLLECT to a dedicated printer at the law enforcement agency
- Through a Judicial Branch fax service to a dedicated fax machine
