New Haven Station Parking Garage

1. Notice of Scoping for New Parking Garage and Pedestrian Connection – Union Station (New Haven Railroad Station), New Haven, Connecticut

Project Description: The proposed undertaking involves the construction of a multi-level parking facility on the south side of Union Station in the City of New Haven. The facility will be designed with a minimum capacity of 670 parking spaces to accommodate commuters currently awaiting parking at the station. The project will include improvements deemed necessary to provide for the safe and efficient circulation of vehicular traffic, which includes busses, from, around, and within the facility.  Pedestrian traffic is also being considered in the planning and design of the facility which will include a pedestrian overpass from the second level of the garage to Union Station, an escalator within the station to convey people from the overpass to the concourse level, and improvements to existing elevators and handicap accessibility through the station from the new garage to the track access tunnel.

Written comments from the public are welcomed and will be accepted until the close of business on December 17, 2010. 

Any person can ask the sponsoring agency to hold a Public Scoping Meeting by sending such a request to the address below.  If a meeting is requested by 25 or more individuals, or by an association that represents 25 or more members, the sponsoring agency shall schedule a Public Scoping Meeting.  Such requests must be made by December 1, 2010.
