3. Notice of Scoping for Gateway Community College Relocation and Consolidation to Downtown New Haven

Municipality where proposed project might be located: New Haven

Address of Possible Project Location: 20 Church Street (former Macy’s site) and 2 Church Street (former Malley’s site)

Project Description:  The proposed project consists of the relocation and consolidation of Gateway Community College (GCC) to downtown New Haven on parcels known as Macy’s and Malley’s.  The proposed project involves the construction of approximately 360,000 gross square feet of building space, along with associated site improvements, to accommodate the consolidated functions and programs of GCC. The estimated square footage of space is to accommodate space for classrooms, laboratories, academic and administrative offices, a library, study areas, general use (such as, dining, bookstore, day care, student activities), and support services (such as, storage, mailroom, media production, etc.).

Written comments from the public concerning the nature and extent of any environmental impacts of the proposed project are welcomed and will be accepted until the close of business on: September 20, 2005.

The purposes of the public scoping meetings are to receive public comments and to provide additional information regarding the proposed project. The public may still submit written comments five (5) days following the Long Wharf public scoping meeting.
