Project Description: The Judicial Branch, in association with the Department of Public Works (DPW), proposes to consolidate and construct an approximately 160,000 square foot Litchfield Judicial District Courthouse in Torrington.  The new courthouse would house Civil, Criminal, Family and Juvenile Courts.  Nine courtrooms, as well as hearing rooms, judges’ chambers and court support services would be included in the new facility.  Additionally, approximately 400 parking spaces would be provided onsite to accommodate current and future needs for visitors, judges, and staff.  The existing Litchfield Courthouse on West Street in Litchfield would be renovated and remain in use for certain court functions.
