Lt. Governor Wyman Announces Health Information Technology Roundtable Discussions In Stamford, Middletown, Danbury, North Haven, and Farmington

(HARTFORD, CONN) – Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman announced today that Allan Hackney, Connecticut’s Health Information Technology Officer, will hold a series of roundtable discussions throughout Connecticut to review the findings of the Health Information Technology (Health IT) Advisory Council that has met over the course of the past year. These roundtable forums will help inform ongoing health information exchange (HIE) planning.

“Improving how healthcare providers, hospital systems, and physician networks talk to each other is an important part of healthcare reform,” said Lt. Governor Wyman. “Efficient health information exchange helps people avoid unnecessary medical tests and expenses, and ensures timely information to providers so they can deliver the best care quickly. Having a system that works for providers and patients across the state will reduce overall healthcare costs and improve the quality of care for consumers.”

“I want to thank the Advisory Council for their commitment to improving our healthcare system. Their report provides a very strong starting point for the work ahead of us,” said Allan Hackney. “These roundtable discussions will further engage healthcare providers, advocates, and patients in building an HIE that meets provider needs and improves patient experience. Connecticut’s health information exchange is a big project, including all the stakeholders is a priority and integral to success.”

The community discussions are scheduled July 18-20, 2017 and open to industry professionals and the general public. Attendees are strongly encouraged to register online in advance.
