Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Invite the Public to the Grand Opening of the Connecticut State Veterans Memorial
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, and the Connecticut State Veterans Memorial Board of Directors are inviting members of the public to attend the grand opening ceremony of the Connecticut State Veterans Memorial on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
Located inside of Minuteman Park at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Broad Street in Hartford - directly in front of the William A. O'Neill State Armory - the memorial pays tribute to the more than 1.3 million Connecticut men and women who served honorably in the U.S. military in defense of our freedom. The site recognizes past, present, and future Connecticut veterans and will be a location for future official observances, activities, and ceremonies.
Monday's grand opening ceremony will be attended by Governor Malloy, Lt. Governor Wyman, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning Linda Schwartz, Connecticut Department of Veterans' Affairs Commissioner Sean Connolly, Military Department Adjutant General Thad Martin, Connecticut State Veterans Memorial Board Co-Presidents Lt. Colonel Lesbia Nieves and former Sergeant E-5 Peter Galgano, as well as other state and local officials, veterans, and families.
Parking for the public is available in the garage of the Legislative Office Building, located at 300 Capitol Avenue, as well as the state parking lot located across Broad Street at 340 Capitol Avenue. All members of the public are welcome to attend - neither tickets nor reservations are needed.
