State Water Plan Outreach and Education Workgroup
Formed in 2020, the State Water Plan Outreach and Education Workgroup is tasked with increasing stakeholder and public awareness of the State Water Plan and increase participation in water resource planning, management, and protection in Connecticut. The group hosts educational opportunities to engage stakeholders on current topics related to implementation of the State Water Plan.
The Outreach and Education Workgroup assists the Water Planning Council by providing a critical public facing role and informing and educating water resource leaders, stakeholders, and the general public on the content of the plan. In addition, they work on the State Water Plan implementation, informing agencies, stakeholders, and the public steps they can take to protect and enhance Connecticut's water resources.
Each year, the workgroup selects a theme to focus their outreach and education efforts. This includes hosting a handful of webinars each year. Recordings of past webinars are hosted on the Connecticut Water Planning Council Youtube Channel. Examples of past themes and webinars include Extreme Weather and Our Watersheds and Source Water Protection. The 2026 theme will be announced shortly!
The workgroup meets virtually on Zoom the first Tuesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The 2025 meeting schedule is available. Instructions for joining a meeting are included in the agenda, which can also be found on the State Agency Public Meeting Calendar under Water Planning Council group.
