Updated 10/25/2024:  Connecticut is experiencing a rapid onset of dry conditions due to the unusually low rainfall of recent weeks.  As of 10/24/2024, the US Drought Monitor has classified a small area in the NW corner of the state as being in Moderate Drought, its lowest category of drought.  It also classifies 2/3 of the state as being abnormally dry, a pre-drought condition.  Some important measures are at normal or near-normal levels in much of the state, including ground water and public water reservoir levels, but weeks of little rain have increased the risk of wildfires and many streams have extremely low flows, even outside of areas highlighted in the Drought Monitor.  Residents and businesses should pay attention to advisories or requests issued by the state, towns, or water companies.  The Interagency Drought Workgroup (IDW) will meet on 11/7/2024 to review updated conditions.  The IDW will continue to monitor conditions and will update this page accordingly. IDW meeting and other information can be found here.
