Professional Development and Evaluation Committee (PDEC) Guidance (1-Day Training)

Participants will engage in learning about:
- Redefining the essential role and responsibility of the PDEC Committee in Connecticut’s new evaluation and support system.
- Understanding the foundational standards for professional learning that ground the work of PDECs to develop and grow a professional learning community.
- Defining high quality professional learning, identifying the components of a high-quality evaluation and support plan, along with structures and systems to monitor outcomes for learning, growth and development.
- Understanding the shifts in the new CT Guidelines for Educator and Leader Evaluation and Support 2023.
- Developing strategies, protocols, resources and planning tools to support successful implementation.
It is recommended that districts include members from the PDEC that is representative of varied roles for educators (ex.: educators - instructional coaches, school counselors, school psychologists and social workers, etc.) and for leaders ( ex.: principals, assistant principals, and central office roles).
Training for Evaluators of Educators (3-Day Training)

Participants will engage in learning about:
Effective leadership has a powerful influence on student outcomes. This session will provide an overview of the CT Guidelines 2023 for educators, including classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and student and support specialists. The new model includes cycles of continuous Improvement and is designed to align professional learning plans with professional practice to support improved outcomes for all students. Participants will engage to learn about:
- The mind-set shifts in the new CT Guidelines 2023.
- How to align professional learning with professional practice strategies to improve student learning, growth and achievement.
- The focus on supporting educators to improve outcomes for all students.
- The role and alignment of professional growth for educators through standards, structures and systems.
- The importance of feedback and reflection strategies for continuous growth and improvement.
Training for Evaluators of Leaders (3-Day Training)

Trainings will take place at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS), 30 Realty Drive, Cheshire, CT from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Participants will engage in learning about:
Effective leadership has a powerful influence on student outcomes. This session will provide an overview of the CT Guidelines 2023 for school and district leaders. The new model includes cycles of continuous improvement and is designed to align with school improvement and strategic planning processes and highlights the importance of professional learning and support as part of the leader evaluation and support system. Participants will engage to learn about:
- The mind-set shifts in the new CT Guidelines 2023.
- How to align school improvement and strategic planning within the processes of the new CT Guidelines 2023.
- The focus on supporting leaders to improve outcomes for students and staff.
- The role and alignment of professional growth for leaders through standards, structures and systems.
- The importance of feedback and reflection strategies for continuous growth and achievement.
