
Attorney Natasha Pierre was appointed by Governor Dannel P. Malloy in December 2014. Natasha:
- Acts as the ombudsman for victims of crime
- Advocates for crime victims' rights in court when there is a violation of their crime victims' rights
- Evaluates the delivery of services to crime victims
- Recommends system-wide improvements to the General Assembly
- Works with private and public agencies to enforce the constitutional rights of crime victims
- Serves on boards and commissions to advocate for victim rights
Before Natasha was appointed as the State Victim Advocate, she was the Policy & Legislative Director for the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women. She also worked as an attorney at Connecticut Legal Services, Inc., and Western Massachusetts Legal Services, Inc., focusing on family and housing law.
Natasha earned a B.A. from the University of Connecticut with a major in Women’s Studies. She earned a dual-degree in law and social work from the University of Connecticut’s Schools of Law and Social Work.
Natasha received the Connecticut Law Tribune’s New Leaders of the Law Award. She has also been featured in the Hartford Courant and the Connecticut Law Tribune. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., an international public service organization.
