Connecticut State Division of Public Defender Services

Members of the public have reported receiving calls, reportedly from the Judicial Branch of the Public Defender’s office, indicating that their loved one is in jail and they need to immediately send cash or provide a credit card number for bail. These calls are scams, so please do not send cash or provide your credit card number or any other personal information. A public defender would never call and ask for money or credit card information. If you receive such a call, contact the State Police in your state.

Directions:

Directions from I-84 heading West:

Take the Sigourney Street Exit, then follow the signs to Capitol Avenue. When following the signs you will make three "quick" lefts then a right onto Capitol Avenue. Take a right (at the light) onto Broad Street after the Capitol Building (gold dome), the courthouse is a couple of miles down on the left.

From I-84 heading East:

Take the Capitol Avenue Exit. At the end of the exit take a right onto Capital Avenue.  Take the second left (at the light) onto Broad Street, the courthouse is a couple of miles down on the left.

From I-91 North or South:

Take the Capitol Avenue Exit, stay over to the far left. You will come to a circle, travel halfway around to Elm Street. Go to the end of Elm Street, you are now facing the Capitol Building. Take a left onto Trinity Street. Stay in the left lane. Go right at the light and take a left (a few lights up) onto Broad Street, the courthouse is a couple of miles down on the left.
