Gov. Malloy: Jobs Report "Encouraging" Lowest Unemployment Rate Since April 2009
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today issued the following statement regarding the release of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s (CTDOL) monthly “Labor Situation” report for the month of January 2012. The report announced that Connecticut’s unemployment rate decreased for the sixth consecutive month to 8.0 percent, compared with the national rate of 8.3 percent, and is at its lowest level since April 2009.

Gov. Malloy: Access to Capital Allows Small Businesses to Think Big
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that four additional small businesses have qualified for grants through the state’s Small Business Express Program (EXP) to expand their businesses and create jobs. EXP was created as a part of the bi-partisan jobs bill that was passed during the October Special Session.

On Tuesday evening, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will hold a town hall meeting on education reform in West Hartford, where they will discuss the need to improve the state’s public school system with parents, students, teachers, and other concerned residents. The event is the second stop on the Governor’s Education Reform Tour.
