Gov. Malloy Sets June 4 Special Election for State House Seat in Hartford
Also Schedules November Special Elections for Two Probate Judge Seats in Fairfield and North Central Connecticut
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a special election to fill a vacancy in the 4th Assembly District of the Connecticut House of Representatives, which consists of portions of the City of Hartford, will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018.
The seat became vacant in April following the resignation of Angel Arce.
Under state law, the Governor is required to issue a Writ of Special Election within ten days of a legislative vacancy and a special election must be held exactly 46 days after the writ is issued.
In addition, Governor Malloy today announced that special elections to fill vacancies for two Judge of Probate districts will be held on the same date as the next general election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
The two probate districts consist of five municipalities throughout the state. They include:
- Fairfield Probate District (vacancy occurred on February 25, 2018 due to death of the incumbent): Fairfield
- North Central Probate District (vacancy anticipated on September 12, 2018 due to the impending retirement of the incumbent): Enfield, Somers, Union, Stafford
