Gov. Malloy Encourages Commuters to Exercise Caution During Snowstorm on Tuesday
State Offices Expected to Open, State Employees Advised to Stay Alert for Potential Updates Tuesday Morning
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy is encouraging Connecticut residents to exercise caution if they need to travel tomorrow (Tuesday, March 13, 2018) due to the anticipated snowstorm that is forecast to impact the state throughout the day.
As of Monday night, state offices are expected to open Tuesday on a normal work schedule, however the Governor is encouraging state employees to stay alert for potential announcements in the morning in the event that additional updates may be made.
“The current forecast is showing that the state will receive a moderate amount of snowfall throughout the day on Tuesday, and we are encouraging anyone who needs to travel to use caution, drive slowly, and allow plenty of time to get to your destinations,” Governor Malloy said.
Connecticut emergency management officials have been notified that the State of Rhode Island is planning a tractor trailer and tandem trailer ban on highways in their state beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday. While a similar ban is not planned for Connecticut at this time, state officials will continue to be in communication with their counterparts in Rhode Island as the situation develops.
As was announced this afternoon, Governor Malloy will partially activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center in Hartford at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning to monitor storm conditions throughout the day and coordinate rapid response to any problems that may arise.
