Gov. Malloy Sets April 25 Special Election for Two State House Seats in Districts Covering Hartford, Watertown and Woodbury
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that special elections to fill two vacancies in the Connecticut House of Representatives will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, for the following districts:
- 7th District of the State House of Representatives, consisting of portions of Hartford; and
- 68th District of the State House of Representatives, consisting of the entirety of Watertown and portions of Woodbury.
The seats were most recently held by Douglas McCrory and Eric Berthel, but both legislators resigned after they were respectively elected to serve in the State Senate during special elections that were held in February.
Under state law, the Governor is required to issue a Writ of Special Election within ten days of a legislative vacancy and a special election must be held exactly 46 days after the writ is issued. Governor Malloy filed the writs earlier today.
