Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman on the Passing of Janet Reno
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today released the following statements regarding the passing of former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno:
Governor Malloy said, "Janet Reno will forever be remembered as a devoted public servant who dedicated her career toward advocating for the rights of some of the most vulnerable in our communities and using her influence to speak on behalf of those without a voice. She was a groundbreaker, and inspired so many people throughout our country as she set an example of holding one of our nation's highest law enforcement positions with integrity and distinction. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones."
Lt. Governor Wyman said, "Janet Reno was a true public servant. Her work as the country's Attorney General was underpinned by strong principles of justice and integrity, and an unwavering focus on what was important. She also spent much of her career breaking through gender barriers, and in doing so, helped establish the path for the women who came up behind her. My condolences to her family and her friends.
