GOV. MALLOY: SPECIAL ELECTION FOR STATE SENATOR IN NEW HAVEN AND WEST HAVEN TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 25
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a special election to fill a vacancy in the State Senate representing the 10th Senatorial District, which covers portions of New Haven and West Haven, will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.
The seat became vacant on January 7 following the resignation of Toni Harp, who was sworn into office as the Mayor of New Haven several days prior.
Under state law, following a vacancy in the General Assembly, the Governor is required to issue a Writ of Special Election, and a special election must be held 46 days after its issuance. The Governor is filing the writs, one for each of the town clerks of
New Haven
and
West Haven
, today.
