TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY PARTICIPATES IN CONNECTICUT VETERANS WARTIME SERVICE MEDAL CEREMONY IN BRANFORD
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in a ceremony in Branford hosted by State Senator Ed Meyer (D-Guilford) honoring area residents with the Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal.
In 2005, legislation was passed by the General Assembly that established the Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal for all Connecticut veterans with qualifying wartime military service. The medal is awarded to any wartime veteran who lived in the state when called to active duty service or is living in the state when the award is made. Prior to 2005, the state only awarded service medals to veterans of World War I; the 2005 legislation was created to recognize veterans who served in later wars and conflicts.
