WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS EVENTS IN HARTFORD & WEST HARTFORD
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in a meeting of the Connecticut Nonprofit Human Services Cabinet, a statewide coalition of 19 human service associations and organizations that represent approximately 800 providers. During the meeting, representatives from the groups will make brief presentations on "best practices" relating to efficiency and innovation within their organizations, and the Governor will speak about efforts his administration has been making to streamline state government and support nonprofit providers.
In the evening, Governor Malloy will participate in Connecticut Voices for Children's annual First for Kids Awards Ceremony, where the accomplishments of four children and families advocates will be celebrated. Among the honorees is state Department of Children and Families (DCF) Commissioner Joette Katz, who is receiving the State Policy Leadership Award for her efforts to reform DCF and reduce and overreliance on children in congregate care settings.
Following that, Governor Malloy will give welcoming remarks at the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame 20th Anniversary Induction Ceremony and Celebration.
