WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS SMALL BUSINESS CONFERENCE IN ENFIELD; RELEASES REPORT ON CONTINUING EFFORTS TO SHRINK STATE GOVERNMENT

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will make remarks at the state's "Step Up" Employer Conference in Enfield , where over 230 employers will receive information from state officials about available opportunities that benefit local businesses, such as job expansion tax credits, wage incentives to hire unemployed workers, and tax incentives for equipment purchases. The event is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor, the Department of Economic and Community Development, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, and area legislators.

In the afternoon, during a meeting with all state agency commissioners, Governor Malloy will release a detailed report documenting efforts achieved by state employees during the past year that are making state government leaner and more cost-effective. Since taking office, Governor Malloy has charged all state agencies with transforming state government to make it more efficient, responsive and business-friendly - efforts that to date have saved over $2 billion in taxpayer dollars. The meeting will be followed by a media availability.
