TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY SIGNS BILL ON NURSING HOME PATIENTS' RIGHTS
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday at noon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony in East Hartford for legislation ( Public Act 13-70 ) that requires nursing home administrators to ensure that all nursing home staff receive in-service training, which must include a discussion on patients' rights to file complaints and voice grievances, and ways to prevent and alleviate patients' fear of retaliation. He will be joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Department of Aging Commissioner Edith Prague, Connecticut Legislative Commission on Aging Executive Director Julia Evans Starr, East Hartford Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc, advocates in the state's senior community, and state lawmakers.
