TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY HOLDS NEWS CONFERENCE ON MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE EVENT; HONORS REGIMENT OF HISPANIC VETERANS WITH LT. GOVERNOR WYMAN

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join Attorney General George Jepsen and Department of Banking Commissioner Howard Pitkin at a news conference to announce the details of the state's upcoming mortgage assistance event, scheduled for October 22 in Hartford. The upcoming event will be the sixth state-sponsored event of its kind, which have helped nearly 5,000 Connecticut homeowners to date.

Following that, Governor Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will present the 65th Infantry Regiment "Borinqueneers" with a proclamation at a ceremony at the State Capitol in Hartford to officially thank them for their service to our nation. The regiment is the only regular active duty U.S. Army combat-arms unit of Latinos who served during the military segregation era. The regiment was activated on June 4, 1920 and participated in World War I, World War II and the Korean War.
