SATURDAY: GOV. MALLOY SPEAKS AT INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE CELEBRATION; WELCOMES HOME CONN. NATIONAL GUARD AVIATION UNIT
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Saturday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will make remarks at "Peace, Love, and Music Together: An International Day of Peace Celebration" at Elizabeth Park in Hartford, a local kick off of United Nations events taking place in New York. Created by a UN resolution in 1981, World Peace Day is observed around the world on September 21.
In the afternoon, Governor Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will welcome home approximately 60 soldiers of the Connecticut National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 104th Aviation Regiment of Windsor Locks, who are returning after a year-long deployment to Afghanistan. The unit was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and provided aviation support consisting of transporting supplies, equipment and personnel within the theater of operations.

**DIRECTIONS: I-91N from Hartford to Exit 40 (Bradley Connector), then take 2nd exit (Route 75), RIGHT at the end of the exit. Follow Route 75 north to the Valero Service Station light. At that light, take a LEFT. Come to stop sign and take a RIGHT. Follow the airport perimeter road for approximately ½ mile to the AASF facility. Facility will be on your left.
