WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY MAKES EDUCATION ANNOUNCEMENT; SIGNS LEGISLATION CREATING DEPARTMENT ON AGING; WELCOMES ATTENDEES TO BASEBALL ALL-STAR GAME

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in a meeting of the Connecticut Performance Evaluation Advisory Council, where he will make an announcement. The council was created in 2010 and is responsible for helping the State Board of Education develop and implement the model teacher evaluation program and the supporting data system. It consists of state officials, union representatives, teachers and other education officials.

In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony at the Marilyn Michaelson Senior Center in Bloomfield, where he will sign legislation (Public Act 13-125) that establishes the state's new Department on Aging. He will be joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Aging Commissioner Edith Prague, lawmakers, and other advocates.

In the evening, Governor Malloy will give welcoming remarks immediately prior to the start of the 2013 Eastern League All-Star Game, which is being hosted this year at New Britain Stadium, home of the New Britain Rock Cats.
