MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS MEETING ON URBAN VIOLENCE IN WATERBURY; SPEAKS AT STATE POLICE CEREMONY; RECEIVES AWARD FROM EARLY CHILDHOOD ADVOCATES

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join Waterbury Mayor Neil O'Leary, Waterbury Police Chief Vernon Riddick, members of the Waterbury City Council, and community stakeholders for a roundtable discussion on urban violence, including gun violence reduction strategies, community policing efforts, and other urban crime mitigation efforts.

In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will make remarks at the Connecticut State Police awards ceremony, where state troopers and civilians will be recognized for heroic efforts during life threatening incidents.

Later, Governor Malloy will be recognized by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance for his focus on early childhood initiatives to close the achievement gap and prepare children for a strong future.
