GOV. MALLOY: FEMA APPROVES APPEAL OF DISASTER CASE MANAGEMENT GRANT
Connecticut Continues to Receive Much Needed Federal Disaster Assistance
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved his appeal of a FEMA Disaster Case Management Grant to continue to assist Connecticut residents with Super Storm Sandy recovery.
The grant provides $467,508 to the state for disaster case managers to assist residents in identifying needs and potential sources of disaster assistance and provide guidance to help them navigate the various public and private sector programs.
"I want to thank FEMA and President Obama's entire administration for their continued support of Connecticut's recovery process, and also our state's Congressional delegation for their unwavering commitment to our recovery process," said Governor Malloy. "These additional funds will provide assistance to those residents most in need and continue to build individual and community resiliency."
The program provides disaster case managers for individuals affected by a disaster to help them develop and carry out an individual disaster recovery plan. This partnership provides one on one interaction and a single point of contact to connect individuals to a broad range of disaster services and resources.
To date, more than $373 million in federal assistance has been approved to help Connecticut with expenses following the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy.
