TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY SPEAKS AT CONN. CONFERENCE OF MUNICIPALITIES ANNUAL CONVENTION; ATTENDS ARRIGONI BRIDGE REDEDICATION CEREMONY
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give welcoming remarks, which will include a discussion on his recently unveiled comprehensive energy strategy, at the start of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) 2012 Annual Convention in Hartford.
In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will attend a ceremony in Portland to celebrate the rededication of the Arrigoni Bridge, which carries Route 66 over the Connecticut River between Middletown and Portland. The bridge, originally opened in 1938, is now fully reopened following completion of the final phase of rehabilitation work. During Tuesday's ceremony, the bridge's original 1938 sign that will be remounted along the sidewalk in the middle of the bridge will be unveiled. Also attending will be U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Middletown Mayor Dan Drew, Portland First Selectwoman Susan S. Bransfield, Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker, Middlesex Chamber of Commerce President Larry McHugh, and other state and local officials.
