Governor Malloy Press Release Masthead
September 21, 2012
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, September 21, 2012:
"The men and women who serve our country deserve our highest respect and recognition for their sacrifice, courage and bravery," said Governor Malloy. "Today, we take a moment to reflect and remember those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who are missing in action or prisoners of war. We are eternally grateful for the work our troops do to protect and defend our values and way of life-and on this day we say a special prayer for those who haven't returned."
"This is a day not only to remember those brave men and women who never came home, but to remember the suffering and anguish that has brought their families every day," said Lt. Gov. Wyman. "Their families have never been able to celebrate their loved one's return from overseas, or even to properly mourn for those who never will. I pray that this day will give those families some small comfort, and that someday they will receive the answer they have been seeking for so long."
Governor Malloy has proclaimed the day as National POW/MIA Recognition Day in the State of Connecticut.
