GOV. MALLOY NAMES ALYSSA GODUTI AS NONPROFIT LIAISON
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has named Alyssa Goduti of Cromwell to serve as the Governor's Nonprofit Liaison, the state's advocate for nonprofit community providers.
"Connecticut's nonprofits play an important role in improving our state's quality of life, particularly in low-income communities," Governor Malloy said. "The Nonprofit Liaison helps to make sure that state government is a real partner to nonprofits who are serving thousands of residents each day. Given Alyssa's strong background working in Connecticut's nonprofit community and her unique ability to build consensus within diverse groups, I know she'll start making a difference from day one."
The cabinet-level position was established by Governor Malloy last year and functions at the same level as a commissioner of a state agency.
"Our state's future depends on having a quality support structure for all of our children and families, and the network of nonprofits is a vital part of that system," Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman said. "I am confident that Alyssa's role as a bridge between the state and the nonprofits will not only reinforce that network, but will help keep the foundation of our communities strong."
Goduti currently serves as Vice President for Business Development and Communications with Community Health Resources (CHR). Most recently, she served as Vice President of Public Policy with the Connecticut Community Providers Association. She holds a Master in Public Administration from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Providence College.
"I am honored to be selected as the Nonprofit Liaison to the Governor. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen the partnership between state government and the nonprofit organizations that provide essential services to hundreds of thousands of Connecticut's most vulnerable residents," Goduti said. "I am enthusiastic to be joining an administration that places its relationship with nonprofit community providers as such a high priority and I look forward to working with Governor Malloy, Lieutenant Governor Wyman and state agency leadership to improve efficiencies, provide coordination and strategic planning and improve access to high quality services."
Goduti will fill the role previously held by Deb Heinrich, who left the position earlier this year. She will officially begin on June 4, 2012.
