WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS NEWS CONFERENCE ON THE 'YEAR OF THE CHARLES W. MORGAN'; MEETS WITH BRIDGEPORT PARENTS ON EDUCATION REFORM
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join State Senator Andrew Maynard (D-Stonington), Mystic Seaport President Stephen C. White and other legislators and local officials at a news conference to declare the 2013-2014 academic year as the "Year of the Charles W. Morgan" in the State of Connecticut. The Charles W. Morgan, originally launched in 1841, is the last remaining wooden whaleship in the world and the oldest American commercial ship still afloat. In the summer of 2014, after completing ongoing renovations, the ship will depart Mystic Seaport for a tour of historic ports in the Northeast.
In the evening, Governor Malloy will meet with a group of parents from Bridgeport for a roundtable discussion on the Governor's proposals for education reform.
