FRIDAY & SATURDAY: FIRST LADY CATHY MALLOY HONORED FOR WORK ON SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION; SPEAKS AT UNITE WOMEN CT RALLY
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Friday morning, First Lady Cathy Malloy will be honored with the National Sexual Violence Resource Center's 2012 Visionary Voice Award and will give a speech about sexual violence prevention at the Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services' annual meeting in Middletown. The Visionary Voice Award is a national honor given this year to only twenty individuals throughout the United States and celebrates individuals whose sexual violence prevention work is making an impact in their communities. As First Lady, Cathy Malloy has remained a passionate supporter of local rape crisis programs and speaks throughout the state about sexual violence and prevention.
On Saturday, the First Lady will give a speech at the Unite Women CT rally in Hartford. The rally is part of a nationwide, nonpartisan grassroots effort to gather people who support women's rights and speak out against laws targeting women's healthcare and basic rights.
