GOV. MALLOY ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF NONPROFIT LIAISON
Deb Heinrich Will Leave Post Next Month
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Nonprofit Liaison Deb Heinrich will be leaving the Administration next month. The Governor established the Nonprofit Liaison post, the first of its kind in the nation, and appointed Heinrich to the cabinet-level position on January 4, 2011.
"I am extremely grateful to Deb for her commitment and service to the state," said Governor Malloy. "Connecticut's nonprofits play an important role in our quality of life in Connecticut, and Deb's work has been particularly instrumental in opening dialogue and improving our relationship with nonprofit community providers. Despite a $3.5 billion deficit, last year I made it clear that we would not shred the safety net to balance the budget. Deb has been critical to efforts to find efficiencies, engage cost-saving strategies, and ensure that we are functioning as a partner to the nonprofits who are serving thousands of residents every day. I extend my gratitude to Deb for her good counsel and her dedication to the people of Connecticut."
"I deeply appreciate Governor Malloy's support of the nonprofit community, and am honored to have served as the state's first Nonprofit Liaison," said Deb Heinrich. "The Governor truly values the state's relationship with these organizations that are on the frontlines in getting programs and services to residents. This relationship has been strengthened and broadened through our work this year. I am grateful for the opportunity to have continued my service to the people of Connecticut."
Heinrich agreed to serve the first year as the Nonprofit Liaison to establish the office and develop the Administration's framework for working with Connecticut's nonprofit community. A new Nonprofit Liaison will be appointed in the coming months.
