GOV. MALLOY'S THURSDAY SCHEDULE

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give opening remarks at the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits annual conference in Cromwell, where he will speak about his efforts to protect the safety net and engage the nonprofit community in a concerted, strategic way to maximize the services people need and minimize the cost as he continues his efforts to get the state's fiscal house in order.

Later Thursday morning, Governor Malloy will hold a news conference with Attorney General George Jepsen and Department of Banking Commissioner Howard Pitkin to discuss the details of next week's free Homeowners Mortgage Assistance Event, which will be held in Hartford and provides an opportunity for members of the public to meet one-on-one with mortgage lenders and HUD-approved housing counselors.

On Thursday evening, Governor Malloy will attend the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center fundraiser in New Haven, where he will give remarks about the importance of the program, which assists veterans recovering from homelessness and mental illness in overcoming legal barriers to housing, healthcare and income.
