THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY SPEAKS WITH WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES; WELCOMES AMERICA EAST TIPOFF EVENT; MEETS WITH STATE COMMISSIONERS

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will meet with a group of women business owners at the University of Hartford's Entrepreneurial Center to discuss issues related to what the Governor hopes to accomplish in a bipartisan manner during the upcoming Jobs Special Session at the end of this month. The attendees represent a variety of small and mid-sized businesses engaged in a wide array of industries. The University's Entrepreneurial Center serves as a business development center, helping launch and enhance businesses.

On Thursday afternoon, Governor Malloy will give welcoming remarks at the America East Tipoff Event at the State Capitol in Hartford, where the conference will be kicking off its upcoming basketball season.

Later Thursday afternoon, Governor Malloy will hold his monthly meeting with the commissioners of each state agency, during which Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will discuss the Governor's policy goals for the upcoming Jobs Special Session, Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services Commissioner Patricia Rehmer will discuss the state employees campaign for charitable giving, and Department of Administrative Services Commissioner Donald DeFronzo and Chief Information Officer Mark Raymond will each give presentations with updates on issues concerning their respective offices.
